Water Use

During 2013, the total amount of water entering the City of Syracuse water system was 13,183 million gallons (36.119 MGD). 13,138 million gallons (35.994 MGD) was withdrawn from Skaneateles Lake and 45.616 million gallons (0.125MGD) came from Lake Ontario (Metropolitan Water Board). Water customers were billed for 5,604 million gallons (15.353MGD) leaving 7,579 million gallons (20.766 MGD) for firefighting purposes, street sweeping, construction, water main flushing and sewer flushing, water main repairs, and distribution system leaks.
